At Phagebio-Lohgics, we develop phage-derived antibacterial protein therapeutics and bacterial viruses (bacteriophages or phages) to kill bacteria infecting humans or animals which are resistant to antibiotics. Phages can be found everywhere in the environment. To create a bigger phage library at Fraunhofer IZI, we need your help.

Be part of the process of hunting phages with us. It is easy and fast. The only thing you need to do is to grab a phagetastic "collecting sample kit" from our office any time between 10 am – 4 pm in F1.04 (Belinda Loh) or F1.03 (Frauke Beermann) and bring a water sample back from your holiday trip. We will analyze the samples afterwards and test whether it includes phages inoculating our antibiotic resistant clinical bacteria strains.

The kit includes:

  • 50 ml Falcon tube

  • gloves

Sample criteria (fresh water sources):

  • River water

  • Pond water

  • Puddle water

  • Lake water

For every sample you bring back you will get a phagy surprise.

Thank you for your support and have a phagulous vacation,

ree
