The Phage Oxford conference is a dear favourite of mine to join. An annual get-together of phage nerds is always an inspiring event and a wonderful reminder of how active and creative this community is.
This year’s edition felt particularly special. By complete coincidence, I finally got to meet a collaborator in person with whom we had written a grant earlier this year – neither of us had expected to run into each other at this meeting, which made the encounter even more memorable. Despite the conference being relatively small, there were still plenty of opportunities to connect with new people, exchange ideas, and discover exciting projects that are pushing the phage field forward.
On top of that, I had the thrill of giving a talk myself—a truly rewarding experience! It had been a while since presenting at an international event, and this marked my first as a group leader, which made it all the more exhilarating.
All in all, Phage Oxford 2025 was a highlight, blending serendipity, new faces, and a personal milestone. Until next time, fellow phage enthusiasts.
