What We Do

Bacteriophages are one of the most basic but abundant organisms on earth. We look for them and study them to understand how they have become such successful predators that is, not only essential for their survival, but also plays a key role in moulding its environment and by that extension, the world we live in. In examining phages, we also use them to advance science, technology and medicine.

Phage Hunting

Building an inventory of well characterised phages is daily business for us. We hunt for phages against multi-drug resistant pathogens from environmental samples.

Phage Screening

With our phage bank, we screen for phages against desired pathogens. We also develop technology to screen faster.

Phage Production & Testing

We carry out GMP-like production of phages for S1 and S2 organisms, including comprehensive testing, for biotechnological and therapeutic applications.

Bioinformatics

We perform NGS sequencing analyses of phage and bacterial genomes including annotation and characterisation.

Antimicrobial Proteins

With the reduction of effective antibiotics, we develop new antimicrobials to combat multi-drug resistant bacterial infections.
