Phage Research Lab
by Belinda Loh
Dr. Belinda Loh
Personal Profile
I am a group leader specializing in microbiology, biochemistry, and phage biology, leading a team of PhD and Master's students in researching bacteriophage-host interactions, bacterial genetics, and protein biochemistry. My work focuses on phage isolation and characterization, bacterial genome modifications, and the study of phage-expressed proteins, including depolymerases and endolysins, for biofilm degradation and bacterial cell lysis. Using protein biochemistry and microbiology techniques, my team and I aim to develop phage-based solutions for tackling antibiotic-resistant bacteria, particularly ESKAPE pathogens. With expertise in working with clinical and environmental isolates, I am always open to collaborations to advance innovative applications in medicine and biotechnology.
